A note from Al re the True North Consortium:

The following beliefs provided the incentive for forming True North:

  • Many companies are looking for set solutions, but, given the one-size doesn't fit-all reality, turn out not to solve their challenges.

  • There are better ways for people to be working than most people are aware of.

  • There are many great consultants who don't get the recognition they deserve because they have created their own approach that, while effective, doesn't drive a following on its own.

  • The industry needs a community centered by consultants with an "add service first and value to us will come later" attitude.  This leads to a focus on what works more than on selling what one has.

  • The best way to learn is through a coalition of practitioners, consultants and academia where no one is attached to their own method.
